This is fufufu, where once you do something it becomes your job forever.
Not much coming my way this season, it seems. A couple of Cute Girls with a Hobby anime, and some romance and school life stuff that might be good.
Zombieland Saga didn't really need a second season, but it can't be bad so I'm in for that.
Dubious on Battle Athletess Daiundoukai - the OVA was good, and I recommend it, but can a TV anime have even half the love of a 90's OVA poured into it?
Also, what's with 20 indistinguishable Chinese 3DCG movies?

The Kabaddi anime was exactly what you'd expect. If you wouldn't mind watching burly dudes aggressively hugging and rubbing against each other, waste no more time - don't even finish reading this post. Myself, I'm not into that, but I wanted a proper explanation of the sport (better than what Chio-chan did) and I got that, so I'm happy and I'm done.
>>31766That's great for you - for me, it was a drop (and even made konosuba go down a few places in my backlog). I see what its appeal is, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like some bits, but it doesn't do the trick for me.

>>31769It's a comedy about terrible people being assholes to each other. It's an interesting formula - it allows the jokes to safely cross a few lines without the audience being distracted by feelings of pity or sympathy, because the characters are assholes and deserve it.

>>31771KonoSuba is more of a sitcom that just has such elements; it's only Combatants that takes this aspect up to 11 and makes it the key defining feature. As opposed to the fairly balanced weirdos of KonoSuba, Combatants really goes all out. Well, okay, the loli chimera is somewhat close to a "not asshole", so it's not "all out".
That being said, Combatants also has the gap moe of when nice things happen to the assholes, like when
the necromancer gets a new wheelchair, allowing her much more freedom than before… which would be a sweet and sympathetic moment until you remember that she has no disabilities and is just cursed to be unable to wear shoes. So it's not just the terrible people comedy thing.
No.31773

>VivyI think I'm with you on this one - it turns out to be quite watchable and interesting, despite its huge and numerous flaws.
To begin with, the premise is about to be rendered obsolete by reality, so it is a weird time to be making this anime. And then it is played out in an extremely misinformed way (though about par for the course for sci-fi anime). For one, the notion that a pretty advanced AI would be attained and then progress would pretty much stagnate for a hundred years is too ludicrous to suspend disbelief; then there is also this funny law of nature that prevents AIs from doing more than one thing, which I assume to be based on a misunderstanding of the distinction between artificial general intelligence and narrow AI. Yet despite these and more, it shows some promise - the relationship between the robosinger and the bear, with an understandable amount of mistrust and conflicting interests, is one of its best traits so far in my view.
By the way, if you want to watch an action anime with a better girl/teddy bear pair and a less stupid setting, go watch the two-part OVA Zetsumetsu Kigu Shoujo: Amazing Twins (still pretty stupid, though).

>>31776>For one, the notion that a pretty advanced AI would be attained and then progress would pretty much stagnate for a hundred years is too ludicrous to suspend disbeliefDunno. There might be more to this indeed. I won't assume that this will be left unexplained.
>then there is also this funny law of nature that prevents AIs from doing more than one thing, which I assume to be based on a misunderstanding of the distinction between artificial general intelligence and narrow AINow, this… let's just chalk it up to one more of the numerous jokes in the anime. I personally appreciated the most all of the deaths in these two episodes. All of them were hilarious.

No.31834
>>31831All late-night anime are advertisements, this one just advertises more products than most.
No.31835
>>31834Stop being obtuse, there's a huge difference between advertising the same franchise but in printed form or in toy form, and advertising the products of some random corporation, making sure we see the Honda logo every time she opens her manual, and so on. There are rules of how to drill a product name and company name in your head for tv ads, and this anime is following all of these rules.
But hey, the anime being an obnoxious advertisement of industrial products aside, MC is pretty good, and the motorbike otaku isn't bad either.
No.31836
>>31835You didn't clarify which part of it being an ad bothered you. If it's the product placement, then you're right, there's a clear-cut difference between anime with it and anime without it and this one's the former. From your previous post alone, I figured there was a chance that it was simply the knowledge that you were watching an ad that kept you from fully enjoying it, and in that context my reminder was relevant.
And now this is getting into a topic that neither of us is really interested in, but if it were me I'd draw the line in a different place - I'd totally put toy ad anime in the same sack as Super Cub rather than in the manga/video game/LN adaptation & original anime sack. Maybe I draw the line on whether the plot and characters where there in the thing being sold to begin with or were slapped together just for the anime.
No.31837
>>31836>I'd totally put toy ad anime in the same sack as Super Cub rather than in the manga/video game/LN adaptation & original anime sack. Maybe I draw the line on whether the plot and characters where there in the thing being sold to begin with or were slapped together just for the anime. To be fair, I'd say a lot of the gatcha game anime adaptations are exactly in the same sack: the plot and sometimes even the characters are slapped together just for the anime. Both in the case of gatcha and toys, that creative freedom can produce a lot of good shit, cause showing the characters generally is already selling the gatcha or the toys. So they don't really need to do anything else. I'd say some part of that creative freedom can be seen in Super Cub too… however, you can also smell the executive overreach from Honda, and the product placement is obnoxious.
This brings me to how I personally would draw the line: if the original product is also entertainment or not. An entertainment company gets that any good narrative would sell the original product too. The mindset of a company that produces a commodity is entirely different: Honda knows that the more you see the Honda logo, the bigger the chance is that you'll remember exactly Honda whenever you need the commodity they are producing. So the product placement becomes obnoxious, as opposed to how Bakuon showed bikes for example. Season 2 when?
Also I just noticed I uploaded the wrong in-between frame in the previous post. I really like how just for a frame or two she had a slight :3 on her face.
