Maybe anime is so calming to you compared the stressful life you hate, that not even a full episode in and you are already sleeping like a baby?

>The drama is often done poorly from my perspective, but it hardly militates against my enjoyment.
Don't worry, this alone was detailed enough. With this, I can easily extrapolate from my own experience with the series. I may finish it if I don't have enough anime to stave off my travel time.

This episode specifically was bad, though. The chink dragons arc was obviously written for two episodes too, but what we got instead is only one episode worth of that script. And we didn't even get a delicious tomboy. Next ep should be better. It's again first half of a two-parter.

One of the best roles of Yuuki Aoi, definitely. And I've loved that girl for at least 8 years, if not nearly a decade. Also I had the feeling the anime is kind of about the population decline, but I guess not really. This, Slime Girl, and UzaMaid really make this season helluva enjoyable.

I think at some point the animators accepted that this series will never have consistent character designs or money/time for good key frames and any in-betweens. And with this acceptance of reality, they just started having fun with whatever they can produce.

The previous arc was my favourite part of the show so far, but man this episode was dumb. Burning through rope with nothing but a cigarette in a few seconds? Really? And then the soldiers all just run off even though they'd previously captured an even larger force and know Ash's comrades are gone.
The ending, though. I saw it coming, but it sure was directed effectively. Like the scene where Yut Lung asked Ash to kill himself to protect Eiji and Ash just grabbed the gun and put it to his head and pulled the trigger immediately. That one gave me chills.

Inferno Cop and the original LWA OVA are still the only things Trigger has made that weren't complete shit, I don't know why people keep expecting anything else of them or hyping up their shows.
I initially didn't plan to watch Gridman past the first episode after how bad that was, but was convinced to pick it up again after seeing how significantly the CGI fights improved in episode 3. This was a mistake, for the show ended up being a fucking mess that dragged on for ages and focused on none of what was actually interesting about it and entirely on how stupid the characters and their interactions were.

Same.
What I did care about was that Yuuta, the supposed protagonist, wasn't even there. It was all Gridman. Yuuta was just a host and isn't even going to remember anything after the end. Any kind of character development for the past 11 eps was thrown out the window.
I think thats the reason why I found the ending to be weak - the one character that held all the other characters together got flushed down the drain.

Just finished the Sky country. This arc was obviously written for three episodes, but they got only two and a little. Oh well. Really, if it wasn't for these rushed arcs, this would have been a masterpiece, one of the best series of the decade. Considering how rarely do the Japanese manage to portray anything even close to Christian morality, this was quite the wonderful arc. I'm not even sure if this isn't just copied from the story of some saint. I think there were saints of high position that at first doubted Christ but then found him and attained saintly status. That aside, it had the best parts of Christian morality too, which made the characters quite endearing. Anyway, time to watch the last part too.

It was fine and shit. It's engraved in his heart or something. I mean, the anime could have been better if it had done more on this front, but frankly it was not a priority (though, judging by what screenshots I've taken, seems like Anti was my own priority). What I'm reminded of is how good Mizukami is at doing exactly endings. Anyway.

The main problem of me watching Gridman is that either the series did too little with its fights, or that I'm too stupid to get some deep narrative meaning interwoven in them, because I'm not a tokusatsu fan or something. Let's assume it's the first, as I can't comment on the second. Then, the series is just way too short to waste time on battles in such a way. Do more with the monster design, god fucking damn it. There even is the character to use: Utsumi. Have him relate to Akane THROUGH understanding her kaiju designs. Do more with the fight choreography and backstage. In the end, it felt like a toy commercial, which … I mean, it does work as a homage, and homage it was, but it would have been cool if it was more than a homage.

The rest is mostly nitpicking. It was fine. Well, lots of it was more than fine. Rikka's mom best girl and best character. They did well with the cast and their interactions. Animation was mostly great, with some stylistic choices that were quite awesome. Except the battles, the battles were way too focused on being homages for me to care enough. Songs were not the best, but oh well, they were fine. All in all, definitely one of the better anime series for the year.

 No.26750

Judging by some of the language used in the anime, I think it is pretty much written with "the body determines the mind within" as a principle (for example like what some of the other characters were commenting about Eva-chan-senpai at some point in Negima). This would mean that not only Yuuta really is like that, but that the comment "Even if he does not remember it, it is still engraved in his body" means the character development is still there. Gridman does say that he's not just Gridman, he's also Yuuta, which would not make sense if he's not being Yuutafied just by residing in Yuuta's body. So, I'm saying, it was fine.

Irozuku Sekai indeed achieved what it set out to do, but I feel that its scope was way too small. Within the scope we had one character only and her inner world only. What about the rest of the characters and the rest of the world? Both characterization of them and whatever worldbuilding we got served as plot convenience to that one heroine’s story, and nothing more. I feel like we could have easily gotten so much more without any loss of focus or pacing. Heck, all that was needed was background details: like confirmation who fucked who in the photo albums in the end, or consistent magical system in book excerpts throughout the series. If we want to be brave, her going to an exhibit during the ending montage would have helped immensely to shift the perception for the scope of the story, at least for those who have just finished the series. And so on, and so on.

tl;dr: it was fine.
