On first glance doesn't seem too much I'm excited about. Hopefully Shoukoku no Altair will have interesting worldbuilding and politics and Made in Abyss looks pretty cool. Aside from the new gundam seems like Knights and Magic is the only other mech show, but since it's isekai i'm already not feeling too confident about it. All the SoL and romance stuff looks especially lame to me. Nothing really stands out at all.
At least the movies look good. Happy to see more NGNL, Seitokai Yakuindomo, Nanoha and Mahouka.

I'm interested in Kakegurui for the art, but that's all I know about it.
Knight's & Magic has my interest for being fantasy mecha, but loses points for isekai.
Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita annoyed me for looking like a nice contrasted yuri pair only for the titty monster to be a dude.
Wait, Aho Girl? Holy shit, I had no idea. That said, the staff is totally different to Mangaka-san's anime, and the PV doesn't look much like Hiroyuki's art, so I'm a bit worried.
That's about it for stuff that caught my eye.

It could've been a sports anime I'd actually watch for once, but all the comedy interruptions are killing it for me with how unfunny it is, and since I like the BGM as well they're pissing me off when they cut that out too.

>Battle Girl High SchoolThis was easily the worst of these sorts of shows I've seen yet in terms of the script, directing, and budget, but beyond that it also doesn't seem like there was any care in the character designs matching their personalities. I have to say, I was happily surprised to see Nana Maru San Batsu today, an adaptation of a quiz "sports" manga. It is a manga I read years ago. I barely remember anything, but I remember enjoying it. It had some quirky and nice characters from both genders, especially in the first big arc. But the translation died.
But god damn it, this anime is just awful.
The beginning scene is not very engaging, but whatever. And then the first horror begun. The opening. The directing of the first scene started making sense. They have no idea how to make this seem interesting. Most of the opening was just the characters flashing around. And you could tell. It wasn't a budget choice, they just didn't know what else to do.
Then we proceed into the main episode. It certainly continues to not be entertaining. It is not bad, but they can't convey any interest into the topic of quizzes. The main girl shows up. I remember actually thinking she was cute from when reading the manga. Well whatever appeal she had they decided to leave it out of the anime. And yes, I don't mean just her looks. Any appeal.
Half-way through the episode we finally get to hear her for the first time, even though there were several scenes with her until now. And that is the point where the show completely drops the ball. Was it boring until now? Yes. Was it able to show us how interesting quizzes are? Not at all. But oh god her voice is just nightmare fuel. What the fuck where they think? Why her? Everyone else in the anime sounds normal. Why her? It is not question of her voice not matching the character, which it doesn't. She is not a normal person voice put in an anime. Her voice would be out of place even in real life. You can't tell if she is actually voicing her character. Her voice just can't match any sort of lip syncing they were doing. The sub-par character design was bad enough, but suddenly we god this one character that started having a voice out of a badly made home-made video.. I actually legitimately tear up, bit my lip and hit the wall to distract from the pain my soul was receiving every time she spoke.
For a few moments there I actually expected an okay anime that might motivate someone to translate the manga. Instead I regretted waking up today. And I am not making some silly exaggerations here. As a person that watches a lot of stuff every season, I was actually at least slightly traumatized by this experience. The chink shit might be bad, but I expect it to be bad. Meanwhile this is just barely a passable everyday anime, but a few of its shortcomings are so catastrophic it ends up being a worse experience than a chink shit.

>>19986I have to disagree. Tsurezure's anime has pretty crappy art, which doesn't resemble the manga or look good by itself. The pacing was super slow, which ruined a lot of the manga's comedic timing. The animation itself was weak, and the voice acting wasn't particularly good either; I thought the only ones whose lines were well delivered were the smoking couple.
Aho Girl on the other hand also has a different art style to the manga, but looks much better all around, and was much faster paced, so the comedy was delivered a lot better, along with the great voice acting. The only complaint I have with Aho Girl is that they censored it at the end.

Only thing that threw me off was "quiz bowl", because I knew the concept, but I'd never heard that name before now. I also really liked the character designs and art style.
That said, Mari's voice was fucking horrible, as you say. I don't think I'll watch any more of it because she just dragged the whole thing down with how shitty her acting was and the disconnect between her monotonous voice and her excited expressions. What a shame.

But I came to talk about this other anime. It's a low-budget 1/3-length story about bullying. Not impressive so far but it might yet end up quite worthwhile. This means you must keep the "Optimize Subtitles for Performance instead of Quality" option in madVR checked (which is the default setting), or else madVR and the MPC-HC screenshot function will never produce screenshots with subtitles. This is yet another madVR limitation, since the PC->TV range shader pass for PC range subtitles ("Optimize Subtitles for Performance instead of Quality" disabled) causes alphablending into the video to occur after screenshots are output.Just incase someone else runs into the same problem.

They are doing as good of a job as they probably can do hyping up his innovations, but it has been just that for the last 4 episodes and the first two episodes were a very generic introduction. And so the season is coming to an ending. I rarely go to 4chan for more than the Koume post, but I still often end up there during the end of a season, being in the last threads of some shows, feeling nostalgic about it, maybe even regretting not joining some of the threads earlier, and eventually crying to myself after they threads die, while thinking how I probably won't get the chance to talk for most of these series and will soon even forgot them. This is probably why my collection of OPs and EDs has increased a lot with the time. At the begging of the season I was thinking how there are barely any good songs to save, but I still ended up with ~40 new songs in my main anime playlist. At least as long as I keep on playing music from time time, I might remember some series by hearing its song. Though it often just makes me cry. Every three months my heart dies a little more. For watching is to live through and all that lives eventually dies. Just in the form of series it is like I have experienced thousands of deaths by now. And if we count every character the number gets that more insane.
At the top of the season I would put Mahoujin Guru Guru with its pure storytelling of old, fun, cute and heartwarming. Maybe not completely deserving at this point, but I will put Rinne 3 after that. Despite everything it is still enjoyable. This season had its share of weirdos. From the Vatican's Miracle Examiners that got to battle global conspiracies with some nice directing at times to the generic Isekai that manages to be surprisingly entertaining with its use of magic. Sakura Reset proved even autistic characters can be interesting. Konbini Kareshi proved you can have a better romance story if you don't focus on the main couple for 3/4s of the series. Jikan no Shihaisha had some nice music and story themes, but it completely choke with its plot. Meanwhile while Dive!! looks like a Free! clone it is a vastly superior anime with not just some pretty faces for characters, but actual characters that struggled and grew as people.
Of course there are many others, but I don't want to be crying all night here.
Don't be jaded and love your anime.
