I have beaten Fire Red for the second time now. I am not sure if I actually bothered finish it the first time. By beating I mean only beating the Elite 4 and some other stuff after that, not really collecting everything. That is only my second Pokemon game as the first one was Sapphire, two or three years after it came out. I spend a lot of time playing that one on my GBA, I didn't have a lot of games on it anyway. It felt very empty beating Fire Red now. I did it only because I realized it was easy to play while watching/listening to stuff in the background. When I played Sapphire I picked the grass pokemon and completely fucked up its moves, yet I was unstoppable with it. It is a sad how easy the game truly is, which kills a lot of the challenge and will to play it. I am not sure if I am going to continue Fire Red. I might try Heart Gold, but I know very well at this age that there is not much diversity in gameplay or even challenge to be found it this franchise. Of course I am only emulating the games, so it doesn't matter anyway. I downloaded all games from the first ones to Black & White 2. I have heard there is some fan game just released and Nintendo immediately tried to shut it down, but because it is out it is already out. Wouldn't actually bothered to play. It seems to be tumblrish and edgy in its storyline, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone here either.
I should get around finishing Dragon's Dogma. I have a lot of games I want to emulate like Zone of the Enders, Yakuza, Shadow of Rome, some RPGs and others.
No.16423
>>16422I basically had the same background with pokemon as you first was Ruby then Fire Red and then I didn't own a DS so I stopped following the series but with the recent vita hacks I ended up playing all the way through Crystal on it and really enjoyed it. So yeah try HGSS or cystal because I really enjoyed it and there's actually a lot of fan service-y stuff in gen 2. Dragons Dogma is pretty great too I played that game to the point of my hands hurting when it came out on pc.
No.16428
Been playing the new Monster Hunter and Labyrinth of Touhou 2. Gen feels a lot more frustrating and grindy than 4U did, likely in no small part due to the changed upgrading system, which was just a terrible idea all around. LoT2 was at its best early on and it's devolved into more grinding and more gimmick bosses with specific punishes and insane damage resistances. I'm up to the final boss now and the only characters I have that can even do any decent damage to it are Yuugi and Kaguya.
>>16422The original RBY and GSC were decently challenging, though RBY wasn't well balanced and you could just over level your starter and breeze through the entire game with them. HGSS might still have some challenge in the post-game, but generally speaking everything since gen 3 onwards has been a cakewalk. I liked XY for making a lot of new changes but it was the easiest game yet and absolutely mind-numbing to play through as a result.

Furthermore, the MGS games have had things like wormholes before, yes, but only in the sense of being goofy bonuses that aren't meant to be taken seriously as part of the story. Just like the monster hunter stuff in PW.
The "zombies" seen before were magical nanomachine zombies and magical vocal chord parasite zombies, not actual straight up dead zombies like there are this time.
You'd have to be an idiot to act like this isn't a severe departure for the franchise. And you know absolutely nothing about how good the gameplay will be.

For some reason I decided that I want to download all the Yu-Gi-Oh! games that can be played on the PC, mostly through emulation except 3. I ended up uploading them on mega too, so here is a link to the list of the games and to mega:
http://pastebin.com/0SHfUYyjThe Tag Force series is famous for having some visual novel gameplay and endings with cute girls. Tag Force Special seems to not be as heavy on the story, but with having cards from all the generations and being able to play with AIs form all the generations it is probably the best if you just want to learn the game.
The World Champions series is pretty good too. There are of course some other games that are old classics like Forbidden Memories and Duel Academy. Dungeon Dice Monsters is very rad.
In case someone would take interest in this, enjoy.

I am conflicted I want to download (pirate) the Attack on Titan game. Honestly if the gameplay is descent it might not be the worst thing ever. >>16782The gemaplay is fine. As I expected nothing too complex. It can get a little wonky at parts, like giving you a short cut scene that fucks up your attack, or getting in a weird position, but it is fine. It is not hard too. It reminds me of last decade spider-man games. It is satisfying enough to fly around, but the Titan design feels a little off.
As expected of a Koei Tecmo port there is no mouse control, so you need a gamepad. It is what people seem to be mostly angry about. The game runs relatively fine and at constant 60fps, but only because it is a typical Japanese console game, fairly stylized and nothing too graphically intense. Even so like most such games the game is obviously not optimized at all, as such a low graphically demanding game should be running even easier.
If you have nothing better to do it is okay to give it a pirate. Don't buy it no matter what.

I finally figured it out. It was a lack of reading. I will just post the links to the forums. You have to register for loverslab.
For the game download:
http://igg-games.com/dead-or-alive-5-last-round-free-download.html If it is not updated to September download
https://torrentproject.se/3c8bcee2874dffcf3cc9dba97fb6a3cb5fe88099/Dead-Or-Alive-5-Last-Round-Update-del-10-al-14-torrent.html and put it in the game folder. With how things are set with Autolink we don't actually need all DLCs, but I am too lazy to figure out which ones. Because autolink uses their spots in the game if you add some of them to the .ini the game will crash during costume select.
https://www.loverslab.com/topic/45864-doa5lr-a-collection-of-mods-primarily-based-off-harry-palmers-work-updated-6516/http://w11.zetaboards.com/SFxT_Mods/topic/11582418/1/ (
http://bbs.3dmgame.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5065534 this has all versions, but I am not sure if the newer ones will work properly)
Here is a little more elaborate explanation:
Download and extract the 6/5/2016 file.
Then do the same for Patch and Patch 2. Just follow the instructions in the archive.
Now go to the zetaboards link and extract autolink. Innore most of the information there, you don't need it other than the link.
For crack and .ini file set up to work with Autolink and the Mai DLCs here is a link:
https://mega.nz/#!cF03jDhZ!dbMe-fZg4c9OaLUmIaRKgKl42lWfBSR1z2nWvwnQUeYI am actually not sure if Autolink includes all the DLC female costumes, but it probably does, at least until June. I am not sure what's up with the male costumes either, if there are all there or not. You can play with the new guest character, Mai, but not the KoF costumes.
To use topless bikini go to any swimsuit costume and move left (or right enough) on the detail menu option. There are many variations.
It seems like some of the autolink costumes will be fucked if your version is higher than 1.06H. To downgrade I think it is enough to remove some of the patch_##_catalog files. Back them up and test one by one. Or maybe try a higher version of autolink? I haven't really tested it enough myself.
Autolink gives you many different costume options, but some will be missing, the newest ones for sure.
If you want to play normally with all the DLCs extract the .ini file from 3DMGAME999999.7z You can also download this 999999 DLC
https://mega.nz/#!YdMlwR7Z!OZ8MCQseGRMCFMSq0FB-phIgSfE2UAU1jszbBu0SrsQ It adds nude, nude with pubs and topples options that work with all the DLCs without crashing the game. I probably got this from somewhere in the thread. For some reason not all the bodies between the different options are no the same. Naotora even has a few different nude options.
Alternatively you can download only the "NUDE ONLY DLC DOWNLOAD" thing and set it up with the 3DMGAME999999 ini (don't use the 999999 DLC though). The 148872 files from the nude only option is different from the 148872 files of the 6/5/2016 and the patches. This way you still get nudes, but without topless option.
For either options you probably should remove the autolink files d3d9.dll and DInput8.dll to be sure that everything is running properly without autolink fucking something up.
It is still a bit of a clusterfuck, but I hope I have helped.

>>16447With the Vita hacking open up I gave this a go and I'm a lot happier with it than PDX, mostly in regards to it having double the song count. And the UI is much better than PD's. But it's still pretty much on PD's level in terms of foreign playability; you can play the rhythm game fine but all the extra menus and unlocks become a pain to figure out.
I also tried out Moe Chronicle and Dungeon Travellers 2; MC is pretty shallow but it's got far more entertaining writing than any other Compile Heart game I've tried, even with the poor translation. DT2 I'm not that far in but it has a fair amount of usability issues, with shit like not being able to change equipment while in the shop menu and many items not saying what they do, and the lack of a speedup button in battle. The UI is also horrendous; one of the worst I've ever seen in a dungeon crawler.

Anyway, it's been used to mean a fan of anime, manga and such for so long that it has become its de facto meaning. 'Otaku' was similar, but 'weeb' has always been mis-used ironically, while 'otaku' has not, which I guess is why I find it less cringeworthy. So I refunded Firis and gave a bad review. It is the top negative review I think. Not sure if Koei Tecmo didn't make the port though, all the ports under their name seem to be the same. That said as far as I heard the game doesn't run that good even on the PS4. Seems like the main problem might be with HDR and badly made lighting. It is a bummer. I also heard Sophie had similar problems, but mostly with the CPU that were later patched out. There is even some dll going around that supposedly makes it run even better. I guess it might be nice to test it out, but it won't be soon. I am think of maybe try and play Drakengard 1 and 2 before next Friday. Might be a little hard.

Firis was an absolute disaster at the Japanese launch with many severe bugs. So if Gust are the ones doing the PC ports, it only stands to reason that they're not turning out well.
On the other end of the pond you have KT, who have consistently shat out terrible ports with the bare minimum of functionality, complete with optimisation issues and technical problems that they don't typically fix. It's hard to find a publisher that gives less of a fuck about their reputation. At the same time, KT's western releases of Gust's games are often loaded with script errors and bugs, showing a lack of care from acttil (who they're outsourced to for localisation) or QA time from KT.
So we have working together Gust's poor programming, acttil's complete incompetence, and KT's complete lack of any shits to give.
I always used to say that we'd be better off never seeing Atelier on PC because they'd just be shit ports anyway, and I was right.

>>18943>Aren't I suppose to watch it?It's a text-based LP, with accompanying cutscenes as videos, and no obnoxious person talking over them. The guy also talks about each stage and how bad the gameplay is, which isn't exaggerated one bit.
https://lparchive.org/Drakengard/>What is so bad about it?Just think of Dynasty Warriors but ten times slower yet with much bigger maps and you have a rough idea. It's incredibly slow and tedious as you use the same minimal moveset to mow down hundreds of the same enemies in each stage, and God help you if you want to try fulfilling the hidden weapon requirements without a guide.
>What about The original Nier and Automata? The original Nier is a fairly basic action RPG and nowhere near as bad. It's carried by bosses and locations constantly changing things up and keeping it fresh. I wouldn't have any issues with recommending playing Nier.
Drakengard 3 managed to be a big step backwards from Nier, though. It's not as bad as 1 and 2, but it's back to being incredibly dull and tedious, which isn't helped by the characters constantly saying "man this is so incredibly dull and tedious" like some cunt actually thought that'd help take the edge off.

Nier port report: mildly bad, but playable.
The biggest problem so far are the random white screens (can be often or hours can pass without them), happen on both AMD and Nvidia.
Obviously the game could have been better optimized, but it is not even on the PS4 so it shouldn't be that surprising. When you start the game for the first time it runs on windowed 1600x900. I think this is what they thought about when setting up the minimal requirements, its how my gtx780 (when the minimal is gtx770 and most AAA games don't even require as much for minimal) gets 60fps. On 1080p it has a lot of drops. There are barely any graphical options, surely enough it is lacking texture ones. It is playable, but with shittier graphics and sure as hell have played better looking games on higher settings. The new Doom for example I can run very well. But it is not as bad as Firis was.
If you can survive playing on a lower resolution or just have a better GPU than mine then the game is playable. The developers seems to have been aware of the white screen problem since before the launch (as they reported about it immediately themselves), so hopefully they are going to at least fix that soon.
Should have spend more time on doing a good port and not putting fucking Denuvo.

>>18992And I've now finished it. Getting the SR points was a hell of a lot easier than in Z2, so I got all 51 of them and the true end without much trouble. The NG+ bonuses are very generous this time around too. I'll hold off on any more playthroughs until all the secrets are clearly known though, as I already missed two due to people giving out unclear requirements.
I was looking forward to the Evangelion group being included, and while they started off great, after beating the 10th angel, Rebuild 2.0's plot ends and they all become completely irrelevant for the rest of the game. You even get Mari in the same mission, but she then has all of ten lines of dialogue after that. It's probably not the best game in the franchise, but as the only official English release I'd definitely recommend it.
As an aside, video recording is completely disabled and after the first few stages it doesn't let you take any screenshots either, which is a shame.

The community patch for Automata is pretty good
http://steamcommunity.com/app/524220/discussions/0/135512104777399045/ In the newest version they even implement a Global Illumination "slider", which when decreased adds a lot of performance to how the game is running. Are you sure you didn't just load a different save? I did that once myself. Or maybe you didn't actually complete them as you sometimes have to read an email or talk with the person before fully completing it. I don't think there is much the side quest can rob away from you in the main story. Taking pictures of the flower for 6O for example gives you one extra line during ending C.
Can't say the game is grindy. I completely 97% of the quests and upped almost all weapons to max levels without much effort by the time I got ending E. Mind you there are several shops you can buy some of the rarer parts you need. You have plenty of money if you sell your machine cores during ending C. The only thing is that there are some more hidden items and info, but that is not exactly grinding.
That said if you are already aware of Yoko Taro and his previous games Automata is mostly predictable, but the execution is good and there are many details about the world that are quite charming. Nier probably had more surprising reveals, because of the general lack of previous info about the game and world.
I only don't see why the machines going in space and ending E are mutually exclusive. No.19162

I don't think there is much the side quest can rob away from you in the main story. Taking pictures of the flower for 6O for example gives you one extra line during ending C.That's exactly the quest I was referring to. And I'm quite certain I completed it, as I was using the bomb pod program it gives you as a reward from 6O's mail ever since I got it. Down the line I never got any dialogue from 6O during the Bunker destruction sequence and only found out about that later, and when I was redoing chapters in post-game that quest came up again.I'm still missing some 15% of quests and I have no way to say how many I actually missed and how many just bugged out, especially since certain chapters are marked with uncompleted quests but nothing on the map to look for.
Upgrading the weapons has been fairly easy due to the buyable materials yes, but upgrading the pods is a different story.
>That said if you are already aware of Yoko Taro and his previous games Automata is mostly predictable, but the execution is good and there are many details about the world that are quite charming. Nier probably had more surprising reveals, because of the general lack of previous info about the game and world. Generally speaking I think Nier was a much more emotionally driven story, whereas Automata is more focused on thematics. Nier had me tearing up or getting angry at the story events at several points, but I never felt much with Automata.

>>19162I really doubt exactly a bug like that would happen, as it is a very save-related thing. It is more likely a whole save to get corrupted, which I haven't heard of happening, than just losing a part of it. I don't know. Once an NPC that had to go from the desert back to Pascal's village bugged out and it was in the middle of the nothing where I couldn't even go, but after a save reload it fixed itself. That is the worst that happened to me, rare driver crashes aside.
Pods are easy too, but they require finding the more hidden items. Honestly you wouldn't suffer much from not upgrading them too much, especially if you over level yourself which is easy to do.
You are probably right about this being a more thematic game, but I rarely get super emotional anyway. All that the androids had in their life was just fighting so you can't expect them to have some superb back stories or even much character, but there was certainly enough to not be just uninteresting. And what they are doing in the present is ultimately still just following their route as fighting androids. Even if their personal stories weren't anything special they played well the role of vessels through which we can experience the world of Automata. This heavily thematic theme with Yoko Taro's asking of questions without giving answers can probably make you feel like you didn't experience much of anything. I don't know how much you did the side quests and collect info about different areas and machine life forms. I would say the existential strive of the machines and their search for a reason/meaning to live/life was quite beautifully crafted in many aspects, even in its relative simplicity. The quirks of the world, the lively Japanese voice actors and the magical soundtrack were a great atmosphere creator for me.
The androids maybe really get to shine as characters only retrospection, after we learn about the backstory of
2B and the YoRHa project. It requires some rethinking and maybe even another playthrough after some time to really see how and why the felt and grow during the game, while getting effected by the world, just like the
the pods did in the end, which I guess is one of the main points Yoko Taro wanted to get through, other than his hate of SE
by making us unite and shoot them to death.[spoiler] And it requires some reconciling with [spoiler]9S being the main character. No.19164

It is more likely a whole save to get corrupted, which I haven't heard of happening, than just losing a part of it.I said from the start that it wasn't the only quest like that; the ones about the the group of three machines trying to figure out meaning in their lives similarly didn't complete properly and had me redo it when I picked that chapter, and there was a third one though I can't recall which it was. I have no idea how many other people have had such problems but it's certainly gone a long way to damaging my experience with the game.
>I don't know how much you did the side quests and collect info about different areas and machine life forms.I did every sidequest available to me throughout the game, and I explored enough to get all the Gestalt reports at least. I'm only missing one weapon and you can probably guess which.

Picked up the Psycho Pass VN on a whim, not really sure if it was worth at all so far. I have only played till what seems to be the average (Daily Life's Guard) ending for the woman, where like the main problem is resolved but there's still plenty left to be answered but what I've seen so far doesn't leave me too confident for the rest of it. First of all, it seems to take place in a different continuity from the anime, in that all the characters from the first series seem to have survived which annoys me a little and then there's that from what I've read so far it's heavily hinted that the two new characters are childhood friends who don't recognise each other and they're the ones who created the antagonist AI which for me is just as stupid as that guy being peiced together from all the bodies in the plane crash or whatever it was from the second season. I dunno, maybe some of the other routes will blow me away but right now I'm regreting buying.

I suppose I'll be the first to talk about Persona 5, then. It was decent, and I certainly liked the new additions to the combat system (baton pass and the new much more RSI friendly UI), but of course there were also some minor annoyances (hold up cutting out the music even if you immediately hit triangle, only one standard battle theme for the whole game despite it being the longest one yet) and some plain major fuckups (Ryuji's instant kill skill).
Since I managed to get all links maxed in 3FES and 4 on my first playthroughs, I have to assume that 5 was stricter in that regard since I was one day short of that goal this time around. A lot of the links this time were pretty boring, and ones like Makoto's focused almost entirely on other people, not leaving much room for their own development or interaction with the player. The story was certainly better than 4's, but I still thought 3 had the much better cast and story.
The biggest disappointment for me would be the soundtrack, with far less vocals around this time and lots of music without much presence, so it's pretty forgettable overall. On a positive note, the Japanese VAs knocked it out of the park.
Trails in the Sky the 3rd just came out, so hopefully that'll be a more interesting sequel.

>>23194It certainly has lots of content, but it isn't particularly interesting. I've put 92 hours into it between two characters; a necromancer that I got to act 7, and a templar that I got to act 8. Playing as a necromancer was all about summoning zombies and then running around trying not to get hit because you die in 2 seconds. Playing as a templar was all about hitting enemies with the same AoE attacks over and over, and trying not to get hit because you still die in 2 seconds even with maxed out resistances, several thousand points in armour, and significant health regen.
So basically it's pretty stupidly balanced as the squishiest class in the game is far better at surviving than the tankiest, and you spend the entire game doing the same thing over and over and hoping it gets fun at some point but it never does.
Just go play Diablo 2 again instead if you really want to play a hack and slash. Or if you just want something to sink a lot of time into pick up the Yakuza series, or get into grand strategy.

I honed a single-target attack the whole time and kept the split shot as a means of holding the mobs. But now the game wants me to use split arrows for both main and secondary attacks. So that I couldn’t hold a position, fortify and shoot. It wants me to run around and pour arrows in a 120° sector. 3× less damage and half of them miss, of course. Mobs per se are fine, but mobs + 2 abyssal bosses…
I could keep my high-damage direct shot, if I could afford another bow… with at least four linked sockets… of specific colours… But that will turn to weeks of 24/7 farm for crafting it. I’ll gain enough levels, so I won’t need that bow anymore and will need another one. The circle repeats.
A bow-inclined Ranger isn’t good with totems, and golems do a poor jobu at distracting bosses. I’ve seen a templar simply keeping 2–3 totems before a big boss and just running around freely, bothered only by the mobs. That’s not fair.

I have been playing some Kingdom Come Deliverance. It is an okay game, but then again I am incapable of having fun with games lately, so I guess it is a good game. I don't understand the complains about the save system, nor the battle system. Oh no, you can't save scum every two seconds! How horrible! Missions have tons of automatic save points and all you have to do during the rest of the time is just fast travel to your home or an inn. How hard can it be to do that? You don't even die that easily if you don't throw yourself from a cliff or something. The battle system is not the best during multiple opponents fights, because of the shitty lock-on, but the fighting itself is just fine. You have to fucking learn from the tutorials and let your character level up too, don't just go from main quest to main quest.

Also on steam I have seen people having problems until they set the priority to higher or real time.
The game is piss easy, you can just spam light attack and win, the character will face the enemies himself. The subtitles translate almost every line incorrectly. It is not censorship, just some complete fucking retardness. And the game is not fully voiced.

Seems like the Citra emulator (3DS) has become very workable by now. A lot of games can be fully played. Etrain Odyssey runs perfectly for example. Of course they are some that still don't run properly, even Pokemon. Though according to the testers the Ultra Sun and Moon versions run great compared to the originals. But I probably won't play the new Pokemon games in this millennium anyway.
So if you have wanted to play some 3DS game now seems to be a good time. The emulator is not that demanding either, but it can depend on the game.

I recently finished Radiant Historia with the 3DS remake of it, though I only went for the basic true end and not the new ending. I must say, I'm pretty disappointed with it after how I've seen nothing but praise for it ever since the original DS version came out.
The time travel aspect of it amounts to nothing more than following one timeline until you hit a progression block, then going to the other timeline until the same thing happens, with occasional diversions into the past to pick up silly abilities that would've been a lot nicer if they had gameplay impact too (like say, learning sword dancing improving Stocke's speed). The characterisation is incredibly shallow, and no one other than Stocke develops throughout the game, while Stocke himself is incredibly wooden and you never learn a thing about him or anyone else that isn't 100% relevant to the plot.
The battle system felt undeveloped in general since the only reason to ever bother doing combos was to get a multiplier on your exp and money afterwards, which is so little it's hardly worth the trouble. It would've been a much better idea to make it so a bigger combo means more damage, or rather, significantly more damage, since it already does that, but to a minuscule degree. Even then I played on hard and it was still a cakewalk all the way through except for one particular boss that oneshot everyone in my party except Stocke and so I had to go grind for an hour to be able to beat it.
The music was nothing special despite the composer, and the the asset reuse bordered on Neptunia levels. So you'd think that at least the plot is great, right? Not really, since all the characters and the world is totally undeveloped none of the revelations mean much, while a lot of the things you don't find out until the end of the game were just because characters refused to communicate, and then the game doesn't even end with you fulfilling your goal of stopping the desertification, you just beat up Heiss who was trying to destroy the world because he was sad and then you just start to stop the desertification.
I really don't see how the game has been so widely praised for so long because it was utterly mediocre all throughout.
On the other hand, I've been playing Alliance Alive now, and while that's also rather easy, it's a lot better so far.

The "worldwide" version has apparently been heavily censored, which I found funny when Australia got the SEA English version which is untouched. Totally the opposite of what usually happens.
Shame there isn't more art of the game though, since I like the character designs.
No.24497
>>24490I don't know what's supposedly censored, but it must have been pretty out there since the death and lesbianism made it through unscathed. The translations were certainly wrong since a lot of the enemies are labeled as "zombie" which doesn't fly for a Chinese game. The constant stream of events with the opening of the global servers has kept it interesting well into the 40 levels so far and I hear open world is happening next month. I don't know about the combat becoming tiring but the spongy enemies with huge health pools was a drag until I pulled a 5-star weapon, so that is likely the mound on which they want you to pay up or get lucky.
No.24498
>>24497The global version retains all the censorship from the Chinese version, which includes character outfits like pic related. I haven't seen any comparisons made but I've also heard that they've also censored several of the stigmata characters. Aside from that there's also the character affection system, in the SEA version you touch characters on the bridge to raise their affection and they respond differently based on where you touch them and what their affection level is. In the global version that's gone entirely.
It's rather difficult to find any concrete comparisons outside of the affection system, so I'm mostly going by posts I read about the global version in the week following its launch. I guess people don't really care that much since it's a phone game.

So A Requiem For Innocence came out, that being the fan disc for The House in Fata Morgana, which is largely dedicated to exploring the origin story that was part of the main game, but in more depth and from different characters' perspectives this time, plus a few side-stories. I have a problem with the importance of one of the new characters and their role in the story, but aside from that it was another fantastic story that fills in the holes quite nicely and offers some very bittersweet resolution to the tale. Unlike with the main game, I cried quite a bit reading this.
Of course, the soundtrack is once again stellar, though there are a few tracks from some seemingly western composer that stick out like a sore thumb. Here's the main theme:

I played through FF15 recently, after having largely ignored it ever since it came out. I did know that the Royal edition and PC release added a bunch of new stuff, but not any specifics.
Holy fuck, what an absolute mess this game is. It goes open world and immediately adopts the open world trait of every single interaction being totally disjointed with only the most brief of dialogue, as NPCs send you on fetch quests with markers pointing you to destinations with no further descriptions. You're constantly moving ahead to unknown areas for unclear reasons. Gralea, for example, is namedropped repeatedly throughout chapters 10-12 as a place you're heading to, but it's only near the very end of chapter 12 that anyone actually bothers to point out that Gralea is the name of the imperial capital, so the player now knows what the connection is. Simple stuff like this throughout the whole game makes the story hard to follow, while most of the story is just dumped on you by the villain in the last two chapters.
It's not like the open world brings anything interesting to the table anyway, it just makes the world feel fake because you have all these tiny outposts with five people in them and rarely any houses outside of Lestallum, while Altissia is a five minute boat ride away from a lighthouse (because there's no port town like there should be) and yet people rarely go there despite the tiny amount of effort required.
The characters all have almost no development whatsoever in the main game, and Noctis in particular is the same all game until he wakes up after the time skip and is then instantly a new character for no real reason.
I don't know why I sunk so much time into it since it's not like the gameplay is much fun either. Wanted to get the most out of my new PC, I guess.

Spend most of the Christmas and New Year time, even up to now, somewhat related to CS:GO stuff. Really didn't feel very satisfying. I didn't even play much competitive, mostly found other ways related to the game, or game mods, or testing shite in the game to waste my time with. But when I played it was often just depressing. Either feeling the pressure to perform (not that much, but I guess it is there, perhaps) or I must be wasting my time even more, or others to ruin the experience anyway. The later being the main reason why I even stopped bothering with online games years ago. I have been thinking it would be a lot better and enjoyable to play CSGO with friends, but I have no friends, so sucks to be me. But then again even back in school when I had friends it was often not super fun, but maybe I just didn't have the best friends.
Played today, way after midnight, my first game in a while of PUBG Mobile on my PC, though, because fuck spending money on the game (it plays very well with mouse and a keyboard, locked only with other people that are "emulating" it). Played Solo on the newest map for the first (FPS mode). It did feel more enjoyable and not only because I won. Even though effectively I did a lot less killing (10) than it happens in CSGO for the same length of time. That said back when I played a bit more PUBG, which wasn't a big phase or anything, it still felt not that fun.
But then again that's a general problem with everything. Stuff just don't feel as exciting as they maybe should. Since Yakuza 0 got cracked, because fuck buying (excuse me, renting on Steam) a Denuvo game, I finally started playing some Yakuza 1 on the PS2 emulator. Didn't even reach the half point. Would have been maybe nice to finish it, Yakuza 2 and then 0 during the holidays, but I haven't touched them at all since I completed chapter 5 or whatever of Yakuza 1.
It is 5am and I know for sure I have lost control over my life. I often can't get to sleep until very late. Even if I am in bed, I will just turn around for hours. Often it just doesn't happen, I don't fall asleep, so I suffer from sleep problems.
Also no motivations for anything, or much excitement in general. Running after pussy maybe would have given me some drive, but women just depress me or don't interest with their existence anyway.

I can commiserate with this so much. From the sleeping to the lack of motivation. I think we've all read posts like this throughout our lives; it's not outlandish to (at least) humorously hypothesize that nearly unremitting motivation is an immanent quality. If you have no motivation, how can you obtain it? This is an ostensibly childish assertion and question, but I don't care. I've been trying to obtain motivation to accomplish something of interest for the latter half of my life and so have other anons. I want an answer, be it from God or whatever. I wish I could cheer you up, anon, but I'm in no position to do so.
With all that shit said, and with regards to CS, try playing older CS titles. I play CZ, and the community isn't shit. I've never felt the need to be 100% in the zone nor has my fun been ruined.

The game doesn't have any player choices or changing missions either so it's limited in replayability, while drones are just unfun to fight because of how they zip around. But you can run around and flank people and stuff, which is cool. Would like to test the faster gameplay more. I enjoyed PUBG's realism, but the game is a buggy mess. If the developer didn't completely drop the bomb with it, I would have been enjoying it a lot more for sure.
That said, again, no friends, kind of hard to get into it. Also the fact you get the token points only form levelling up smells like hitting a wall. And then you can't buy the newest hero. The whole hero shit smells more of a way to try to force you to pay money than anything else. Not sure I enjoy the gimmick anyway. I prefer more straightforward shooter, but it is not as dumb as the building mechanic in Fortnite. Even if they make you collect points just from playing, new players will be behind everyone else and you will feel forced to play to not get behind on the heroes. Well depending on how often they release them. But the more heroes they have the more of a mess the balance and gameplay will become. People will just be forced to play the best anyway. At least none of them seem super overpowered or anything. Their abilities are more strategic than free kills, though some are already the a lot mroe preferred picks.

I finished Rune Factory 2's main story. Compared to the first game, there are quite a few improvements: very welcome UI tweaks, fewer but more diverse dungeons, smarter monsters, better combat, more dialogue, requests, and most of all, post-game content.
With that said, I feel like RF1 has one thing that its sequel does not, and that is not every character is seemingly and stupidly happy all the time, and there was at least one story event that gave me agency. Russell, for example, is worried over his past experiences as a soldier. Hell, he drinks to soothe his troubled heart. Ceci expressed some concerns as well. Sabrina and Neumann's whole spat was a nice little attempt at adding some character; it's a shame that after resolving their conflict, nothing really changed, and some dialogue wasn't updated too. Ivan gave some meager world building, but it was a nice to hear that the world isn't perfect. Melody gave up her dream to be a witch. And then there is Sharron suspicions about the cave she was guarding. Going into the characters' houses and hearing more personable stuff was cool, and going to the pub in the evening with people pounding their drinks gave more life to the village. There's probably more, but I think that's most of it. Overall, RF2's characters didn't charm me as much as the first game's people despite the sequel containing more dialogue, less repetition, and more changes.
The first game aside, I have another big problem: the idea of splitting the game between a character and his son is a good idea, but they messed that up. Allowing your character to craft some stuff by having incomplete crafting stations in his home would've been a great way to reduce the tedium of the game's first half. That and since the initial part of the game is focused on marriage, they should've made the courting process in-depth. Yue and Cecilia are cute as hell (loli Ceci > adult Cecilia), but there wasn't much to do considering how much god damn time I had to waste. Post-marriage was particularly brutal; your wife did pretty much nothing, and you were just waiting around for her to give birth. Very little dialogue added as well.

Spent an ungodly amount of gold in a rock-paper-scissors game so that a loli would bite my character.
It was worth it.

Turns out Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm's VN has been released on Steam. Actually exciting news, not like the RDR2 shit.

No.28841
>>28840Only in a world where ports are always trash. Works fine for menus and such. When you are on the field, and mind you move the robots every turn on the field, the mouse moves fucking atrociously. It could have easily been way better than playing with a gamepad. Just this one thing.
Also Doraemon - Story of Seasons is out. Played it for around 20 minutes before quitting. Playing is not really the word though, because I was still in the part where they introduce you to the stupid plot, but don't let you save at any point.

I'm going to start playing the game soon, and I expected the story to be simple but charming.
>but don't let you save at any point. That's pretty fucking dumb. I hate when they do this.
No.28859
>>28858It is simple, alright. Maybe you will find it for charming too, but the dialogue was too much for me. At least you can skip VN-type events, but you can't actually skip everything, so there is that too. Wanted to try changing the languange to Japanese, but of course, no menu. If you restart the game to get to the title screen you will find no option for Japanese, about which I guess I shouldn't be surprised with a Steam release. Though Ao no Kanata has Japanese. You can even switch while playing the story. I guess it is a VN so it doesn't count as much, but it actually seems to have a very good new engine and many PC options, more than some AAA games nowadays.

>>28859I plan on playing it on the Switch, so I hope things aren't as bad there.
The recent VNs I have played have, as you exemplified with Aokana, do indeed seem pretty slick, thankfully. Probably thanks to developers having moved from ad-hoc solutions to Unity and the like.

>>28863I don't see why the Doraemon game would be any different on the Switch. Maybe if it actually has a Japanese option, but that's it and it is a maybe.

I began I am Setsuna. The art, sounds, and music–the piano tracks especially–are damn good. The same cannot be said of the explanation and execution of important game mechanics. Whoever decided that certain materials may only be dropped when an enemy's remaining HP is exactly depleted is an ass. Oh, and the Vita version exhibits significant lag during combat.

Finished the class rep's route in Period, and it was unremarkable; it didn't evoke any emotion. That, and some points of interest one would think would be part of the route's development never went anywhere, or were merely shallow.
Think I'll probably move onto something else, and leave this to finish at a later time. Doubt the other routes are any better.
