 No.20915

So no more backstories this episode, just jumping around between characters and showing what everyone is up too. Nowhere near as hype as the first episode got, but it kept things moving along nicely.
RIP boar, even though she clearly wasn't supposed to be a sympathetic character I still really liked her. I was holding onto some hope she'd turn out to be fine somehow but I guess she's gone. Then again, knowing nisio and considering the setting is full of magic I don't want to completly write her off.

 No.20918

>>20915
I don't think the setting is magic enough for her to be revived. Other than in the end, in case it is a "revive everyone" end, which I doubt.
The first episode was really just a bait and switch, though kind of a poor one. But maybe Nisio was never too good with such things? The second episode is a lot more like a Nisio work, with a lot of talking, inner thinking and scheming.

I mean, it was pretty obvious that Wolf was going to end up dead, with all that monologuing going on. At this point I'm expecting whoever gets the most time spent rationalising in the next episode to die too.

So what do you think was going on with Niwatori? I doubt it was the Dog's drug. And I really hope Monkey is not just a normal nice person. It could be some inherent magical ability, but then it is questionable why it didn't work on everyone at the starting area. I would say Niwatori was under the influence of the gas and the drink Monkey was making. I was going to complain how the birds didn't mind dying under the influence of Niwatori's magic, but Niwatori didn't mind dying under the influence of Monkey either, so I guess there is some consistency to it, so it is harder to complain.
I hope that the fact the next episode seems Monkey related doesn't mean she is going to die so soon, but just introducing her as a character. If we don't get a few characters that we stick on for longer, it won't be a very rememberable series the way it is going on for now. And it is not like the character flashbacks we get are something that can make people care so far. If anything I would argue they are more of world building than character introduction.

 No.21099

>>21091
Yeah I wasn't given a single reason to care about Chicken. Wow she's been a psycho all her life big fucking deal. I hope we get a character I can latch onto soon because I'm really starting to not care.
Also, Monkey appears 4th in the ED after Boar, Dog and Chicken. But that's just a coincidence right?

>But that's just a coincidence right?
I sure hope it is just red hearing. She is basically the most interesting character so far, because the others talk about her and there is a sense of mystery and expectation to it. And she is the only one that seems to have some plan different from just simple winning the event. If she is killed what do we have left, Ox killing people until Rat kills him? The ones we haven't focused on at all for now look like filler episodic characters.
At heart I am not the biggest Nisio fan, but damn it, something must happen eventually. The closest this is to his other works (that I have read) is Medaka Box, super generic, until an event happens. The novel is getting a damn sequel this December. It is why the anime is even being made. And surely this means the novel was popular.

Well they're obviously censoring the gore now, so I guess I'm out. Maybe I'll get back to it when the BDs hit.

 No.21233

I just realized that because this is written by Nisio, of course one of the characters is actually the Cat. Or, well, at least the Cat will turn up at some moment.

Mouse is cat. You can tell by how much he sleeps.

 No.21252

And it seems completely normal for the actual Mouse to not actually turn up, but to sneak around.

It's too obvious for a nisio work.

I've no idea what it says about nisio that this suggestion makes perfect sense.

It's actually not a bad adaptation, but they obviously hate money considering they didn't do a third season.
I mean, a fucking third season would have everybody drop their panties and buy both the BDs and the manga in order to squee more effectively at Kumagawa. But nooo. We can't have nice things.
When searching for a snapshot to post I automatically started writing "kumagawa". Frankly, Kumagawa since his introduction and Zen since the end of the tower arc stole the show so much I barely remember Medaka herself.

Well the meta event that happens when Zen gets turned into a #sidecharacter is that Medaka gets stripped of main character status (and so does everyone else), hell that's explicitly what Devil Style does.
Kumagawa was just the best.

You could say the same for Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon or any of the other Kawakamiverse series.

Well yes, but that doesn't mean we the readers will play along. And yes, nisio explored this exact concept afterwards too. Man, it was a fun manga. One of the few I followed as ongoing from the moment the first chapter was translated.

Em was pretty nice.
Did Nisio ever clarify if Kumagawa porked the swimsuit girl?

I have very conflicted opinions about this. The censoring of the gore and the shit plot should be enough to make me drop it, but then something very nisio-ish happens (like the last moments of the Rooster), and my pickles are tickled, and then I want to watch more. I fucking hate nisio.

Things sure escalating, I guess? 3 down
And there is basically no clue to what is going on Other than the ED still being correct and two of the three deaths today being sadly very obvious, but they also make the incoming events that more questionable.
But we have like half of the anime ahead. I really don't know what to think.

 No.21695

>>21692
I don't really know either, but I expect Nisio to pull garbage and have an ebin tweest. The premise was dumb to begin with, but then again, the premise of Medaka Box was kind of dumb to begin with. What I'm more interested in is what sort of wish these guys could possibly offer, and more importantly, how powerful they must be if Ox doesn't just threaten to off them if they don't grant his wish.

 No.21908

What the fuck? They spend the whole episode on a pointless flashbacks. Didn't we already learn last episode the brothers are quirky and crazy? What was even the fucking point? To talk about morality? They didn't even do that. I don't get what's the point of anything in this anime.

 No.22033

File: 1511889788646.jpg (221.12 KB, 1280x720, [HorribleSubs] Juuni Taise….jpg)

A very underwhelming episode. And now that there are almost no characters left they went full on CGI. I can't get my head around all of the flashbacks. There is nothing interesting or special about them. Was this made with normalfags in mind or what? Would even they get impressed in any way this?

 No.22154

File: 1512605242619.jpg (210.22 KB, 1280x720, [HorribleSubs] Juuni Taise….jpg)

I didn't expect this to turn into Tiger's love story episode, but it was okay. I am a little upset that Rabbit was indeed able to continue moving. Mostly because the rules of the power levels of this world seem very unexplained, so what is realistically possible in it and what is not is very blur. And this feels like something that shouldn't have been quite possible.

Rabbit turned into a zombie monstrosity, Monkey's corpse pinned down Ox and then Rat nuked the three of them with Sheep's bomb. And I am probably making it sound more interesting that it is. And then we got a reveal about what Rat's power is and it is being able to decide from different possible futures. Next episode we get the wish fulfilment.

 No.22310

>>22305
It was garbage. I don't know what they were trying to accomplish, but it didn't work. It was actually, ACTUALLY worse than Apocrypha. I didn't think that would be possible but at least Apocrypha had a beautiful fight or two.

I wonder if by any chance the novel was written from his perspective and we actually got to see many different situations and learn a lot more about the warriors. Might have been more interesting.

I think so too. This last episode is my favorite.
