I hate when there is a lot of hype about something. I feel so judgemental I can't enjoy it. And it is not like it is not basically just an LN (even if it not one) "isekai". And the director has taken part in too many pretensions projects popular among casuals.
I am too old and grumpy for this shit.

Went into this blind, didn't know there was hype around this, though now I've had a look at the people involved I can certainly see people making a fuss about it. I'm with you on the story/setting but I'm just happy since it's the first show I've seen this season where the action is somewhat competent (not got around to Bahamut yet). Also I do like the soundtrack, even if it is just the same shit he did for A/Z all over again.

As I said, there is hype and so I get judgemental. Why? Hype means there is a reason to be hyped, meaning expectations. And there is a lot god damn hype going around for this. Even I didn't got tricked into the hype it still carries some weight, but what I am seeing is something not fundamentally that different from the several other "meh" battle fantasies that have already aired this season. So then my reaction to this doesn't stop at "meh" it goes to "where are the expectations people claim?" which naturally makes me feel actually negatively about the series and in connection towards the people that continue to talk about it in a hyped manner. It is not some edgy hipster "I am too cool for this" reaction, it s a "you bought a 5-6 dollar product for 10 bucks and then are trying to make me do the same and that doesn't make happy." Do you understand this basic dynamic now?
You should think why you forced the discussion to go off on this tangent instead of just trying to prove to me why this is more than "meh." And god damn it, it could have started more generic. There seems to be the implications that the "creators" might have some powers, so the main character is not completely useless, but I have great doubts that it will change the general battle fantasy setting much and it is not extremely original, as many would say, to begin with. So far it even lacks any meta thematics that give some complexity to a story like that. As if the fact that they came out of a screen should make me go masturbate over it. Hey, it might get somewhat better and at least make me feel "meh" again, but so far it has nothing and the hype doesn't help it either.

I really, really haven't. I've been disappointed that things I personally like aren't popular but I've never once been angry that SAO or Umaru is popular.

I don't get it. I thought this was kind of crap. The MC is as cardboard as they come, and none of the female characters are much of an improvement. The animation wasn't particularly good and neither were the action scenes, and Sawano's overblown vocal music doesn't ever help. The only point of appeal I could see in it was the villain's design, and I liked that a lot more before I noticed the massive twintails.

That I can agree with. This show is too lighthearted for that sort of soundtrack. The op is quite good though.

And that bland MC. Seems like he probably let the girl in the beginning be bullied and she ended up killing himself, or something close enough. So impressive.
Is this seriously 2-cour? It is so boring and it doesn't seem like they are doing much anyway. My guess is they are going to sloth through the first cour and then try very hard to turn things around for the second cour.

I am sure it is not the first time, but I can't remember another. I am so damn happy that there is a fucking recap episode. Yes, I noticed the antics, but:
1. They should be fun for people to care.
2. The show so far should have been fun for antics to matter.

May it is just me, but I find it kind of funny how the most overpowered character is actually what looks to me as the Not-NisioisiNish character.

I am glad it is over. The ending was horrible. They explained nothing important. One of the girls remained to be the MC's girlfriend. And the serial killer also remained and no one even acknowledged the fact. The "meta" within it was complete garbage. There is nothing good about it than some of the character designs and I guess there was some overused okay music.

Dropped it about 5 episodes in, I guess this show isn't worth watching?
