That aside, I don't think the father handled the whole "you are not a thief" situation well. It sounded like "you did something bad, but that's okay, because father loves you", which is quite shitty. And the explanation is so easy: he just had to say that that's how friendship works. They gave her the clay today, but tomorrow she will do something for them without expecting anything in return, so it's okay. With time nobody will remember the exact number of returned favors. Yet– "you are a good girl, look how much I love you!" Fuck him. He's not raising a pet to be eternally dependent on him, he's raising a human being. Tirade over, I'm going back to the regularly scheduled stomach growls.

I already gave up on the show after episode 2 because I was convinced that the father was spineless and incompetent. I guess I was right.

He ain't exceptionally spineless or incompetent for a Japanese father. Futsuu da. Actually, he seems to be learning how to cook with a steady pace, so no second-hand awkwardness from cooking mishaps.

At most, I expect two-three more awful moments, one reserved for the season finale arc that's going to be the last two episodes. Then again, is this original? Manga adaptation? It seems to be a manga adaptation, because despite the abysmally low budget there are some scenes with great composition, but I'm too lazy to check. If anybody knows, tell us. Spoilers aren't a factor in a show about making you hungry and teaching you how to cook.

P.S. Sasuga the genius daughter. The vegetables were so flattened out that the bechamel is spreading out like it's on a glass surface.

10 minutes of the guy being a bad parent and 10 minutes of a boring cooking show. Except this time it was around 15-5. This is truly the worst adult-child anime/manga.

Can't cooking be always so easy? I can follow an algorithm, but… every recipe seems to require "adding salt to taste", controlling the amount of water depending on the strength of the stove, picky people to modify the recipe around, and so on.

This is so annoying. 10 minutes of building up a drama and then suddenly cooking during which they have to find two minutes to squeeze in a happy ending. The episodic formula of this anime has gone too far. They didn't even try something different for the last episode, other than introducing Kotori's mother. If I didn't check before watching I was going to be confused it this was the last episode or not.

But dropping a show two episodes before the end is kind of stupid. I guess I can manage it while cooking or something like that. Just… never again watching it by itself.

Males are usually older than their spouses. The mean age for first childbirth for mothers in Japan is around 30. The statistically likely differences then would be 6-7 years with the mother and 23-24 years with the daughter. But it's acceptable to think the teacher is on the young side, far from the average for Japan. I'd still give him at least 30, as going into education probably requires a degree, and probably Tsumugi popped up after he finished it.

Statistics, personal preferences and thoughts about how acceptable age difference scales with the ages in question aside, I probably am annoyed with the anime and want to ship a couple the narrative doesn't seem to be pushing.
