And no, you are wrong. They have a set of defining features that the show uses more or less prominently depending on the episodes. What makes episode 11 different is how it pretty much used ONLY these features, and nothing else the entire episode. At least the previous episodes used to introduce new things, even if they didn't provide for too deep of a characters.
