No.15584
>>15583You misinterpreted, I think. Remember how the first time he woke up the twins weren't there. So Betty drained him, but not enough to kill him. For the record, I was half-convinced your interpretation is the correct one before rewatching the arc. I wonder how deliberate is this on the writer's side.
No.15585
>>15584Hang on, I just double-checked, and this doesn't make any sense otherwise. She says this when he barges into her room right after he woke up at the start of the second loop. Actually, the whole conversation definitely only makes sense if she remembers. My theory was that her room isn't being affected by the loops, but they've barely expanded on it despite Subaru clearly realising it.
Maybe next episode will finally get into Betty.
No.15591
>>15585Nah, the loop starts with him waking up to the two beauties. The first visit of Betty is already set in stone before the start of the loop, so of course Betty remembers one visit.
See:
first Betty visit -> Betty drains him -> he passes out ->
->
-> loop starts with Rem and Ram -> second Betty visit, she remembers the first one -> stuff happens -> death \

I actually want this to be real now.
No.15597
>>15595All things considered, she's the one most likely to get to know about the loops, even if she doesn't right now. Subaru's dynamics with her is kind of like Ragi's with Mayoi, after all.

No.15779
>>15761She didn't. Or at least we didn't see her get mad. I'm frankly disappointed.
Even their backstory was pretty lackluster. It wasn't bad per se, it avoided falling 100% in the cliche, but still. It was presented quite tastelessly. I'd've been more than happy with nothing more than hints and disjointed scenes scattered throughout the arc. Or, vice versa, they could do an entire episode specifically for it, spending only the last minute for that fiery night of destiny. I'd dig a SoL of the chibi twins.
And, afterwards. The talk was… I guess as dramatic and pointless as any up to now, but buildup matters a lot. This was a Rem scene, and they should have at least focused exclusively on Rem's viewpoint throughout the whole episode. At least I did like the dropped hint about Dragonslayer-cchi. That aside, it was quite the weak episode, even if I'm not arguing the meat of it, but just the way it was presented.
Time to rewatch the previous one.
No.15780
>>15779Yeah, it seemed quite melodramatic. I definitely didn't like this arc as much as the last one, since it dragged on too long and I'm always annoyed by stories of people trying to do things on their own and hiding their feelings.
Hopefully the next arc will be better since I hear the thief girl is the focus again.
No.15796
>>15780Thanks for the spoiler, faggot.
No.15878
>>15877Yup, he did. I've a problem with how badly he fucked this up, but oh well, melodrama and moving the story, I guess. On the other hand this arc is doing exactly what I expected it to do: to hold off the executions and to try to progress the story without an endless repeat. We'll see how much this holds off, because damn, Subaru himself probably feels like an hero right now.
That aside, I like Felt.
No.15885
>>15884They didn't say what the process is going to be. But, let me digress.
Green is the stereotype for military nobility. White is the stereotype for merchant nobility. What about Priscilla? She's introduced with a special event, and loosely fits the stereotype for stuck-up nobility who knows nothing of the real world for now. Imagine, however, what would happen if she was the main character. We've seen this story a thousand times, right? Through hijinks the princess learns the ways of the commoners and becomes a better person and gains the competences needed to be a leader.
So yeah, I'm rooting for Priscilla now. Being a queen would only toll Emilia-tan, she doesn't deserve this pressure.
No.15941
So, it turns out this arc was all about introducing the main plot, as far as I can tell. And here I thought these weren't death cultists, just normal fantasy racism KKK.

How hard is it to say "there are a bunch of cultists coming to kill you and the entire village"? Subaru's character is getting kind of contrived.

No.16021
>>16020>She already said she's unable to believe him even though she wants to. The only way to convince her would be by explaining why he knows what he knows. The last conversation was similarly contrived. There are a million ways he could have expressed himself without specifically telling her about Return By Death.
>Remember what happened when he started talking about cultists in previous episode. To an entirely different person with an entirely different relationship with Subaru and entirely different motivations. Emilia would undoubtedly take it seriously when the entire township is at stake.
No.16022
remember that subaru is supposed to be an autistic neet, and has had negative repercussions before from telling people about the cultists coming to attack
No.16030
>>16021Quite the contrary. It was impossible for him to express himself without specifically telling her about Return by Death. We already covered that in the capital. However he should have started his speech with something else. I think the reason he mentioned RbD at the beginning was to test if Witch would allow it, as the form mattered less. To get it out of the way first, if it passed he would be able to tell the story more calmly.
Yes, if he only mentioned cultists, there's a decent chance Emilia would believe him - but it would be only Emilia herself and she wouldn't take any action without some solid explanation, because Subaru has already betrayed her trust many times and the last times he did that, he caused a fuckload of trouble for her.

No.16158
>>16156I thought it would be fun too, but the arc should end before the season ends. The Whale has been there every time so there is no reason to think it wouldn't be and it is better to try than do nothing with the information.
I am sure people will start dying next episodes, but mostly nameless characters. The old butler seems ready to die too. I would be sad to see him go, I hope Subaru saves him but that might be one saving too much for him. It was interesting how during their conversation he clearly was talking about being ready to die and go to his wife, but Subaru didn't even tell him something like "Hey, man, don't die on me!" It wasn't pointed to in any way, but I will think of it as a sign of Subaru being more than ready to sacrifice any of them, despite the fact he likes the guy. If we get more symbolic about it in a way it is Subaru letting an older version of him dying.
They also didn't show them talking about the cult, so there might be this awkward moment where after the Whale, as long as they do kill it, he asks of the remaining troops to charge toward the mansion.

No.16162
>>16161That is highly incorrect. Don't you remember that there was a mist or something like that over one of the roads so they took the other one? That was because of the whale.
No.16167
>>16166You are not the only one wondering about it, but we simple don't know. It was made to seem like the whale was related to that, but it might not completely be the true. It could be another "chosen" person. At the same time Subaru remembered, maybe it was only because of his relationship with the Jealous Witch, but it is possible that there is some rule we don't know about. Also why did the whale even leave Subaru at the very end?
As a whole this arc pointed to a lot of things I don't think that will be full explained until a lot later into the story.

I actually forgot that Re:Zero exists until I started thinking about what is coming out today. They kept us under suspense for so long that now that I suddenly don't expect anything new or unexpected to happen it is almost as if it is already over. I hope the new episode doesn't just confirm that.

So what do you think Subaru is going to do with this guy? I am honestly surprised they decided to bring him up now. Not only did I forgot about him I don't even think he is that important, but from here on he might become an important rival. The bad thing is Subaru seems to still be shitting himself and I would really hate if this is the standard relationship between them for the future. I hope Subaru is able to get it together and remember that he did it to himself instead of blaming others and get on with his life. I don't think this is the culmination I wanted, but maybe I will get surprised.

>>17565>if you could even call them thatThey are characters though. It doesn't matter how much you dislike them, that doesn't change the definition of a character.
No.17571
>>17565You don't really get even the simplest of facts about human psyche, huh?
If MC has any charm, it comes from three things:
1) Time travel erases his bad sides. We've seen more than enough how negative the reactions of everybody around him are when he shows how pathetic he is.
2) He's significantly different from everybody else, and people naturally are curious about it. Especially when they don't perceive him as threatening whatsoever.
3) His emotional attachment to the rest of the cast and the way he acts out this attachment makes everybody else like him too. It's more often than not reciprocal: the fact that somebody likes you will make you like him too. It probably won't make you want to fuck him, but only Rem seems to get wet every time she looks at Subaru.
Moreover, you don't get simple facts about any fictional work:
1) Hype is ALWAYS detrimental. It can't possibly "carry" anything, it can only make you perceive it as worse than it actually is.
2) If Re: Zero is "feels", then most of western fantasy is "feels". Doesn't compute, in my opinion.
3) I just feel like there should be a third point here.
At least you get one thing correctly:
1) That Re: Zero is a mediocrity.
